Tory-Liberal Coalition Axe local school building plans

8 Schools in Haslingden & Hyndburn have been told that their planned school rebuild won’t now go ahead after the Government cut a flagship school rebuilding programme, Building Schools for the Future.

The Conservative and Liberal Democrat Government have announced that they will scrap the programmes that were announced under the previous Labour government. The Schools affected in our area are;

Accrington Academy Unaffected
Haslingden High Stopped
Mount Carmel RC High Stopped
Norden High Stopped
Oswaldtwistle PRU Stopped
Rhyddings Stopped
Tor View Stopped
Hollins (Phase V)
St Christopher's (Phase V)

I am hugely disappointed that the planned school buildings they were promised will not now happen. Local parents, teachers and children will be too. I will be fighting tooth and nail against these rash cuts which will hold back the education of children in Hyndburn and Haslingden

New School buildings are more than just a source of pride for pupils, teachers and parents. They improve discipline, standards and they are a springboard for the future of our children. The Conservatives and Liberals promised that schools would be safe from cuts. Parents in our area have told me they are now deeply concerned the impact these cuts will have on their children’s education.

I hope you will join me in campaigning to save these much needed schemes in Hyndburn and Haslingden.
