Just done bizarre interview on BBC Radio Lancs

Just done bizarre interview on BBC Radio Lancs this morning. I was asked essentially have I got nothing better to than talk about than Blackburn Rovers suggesting it was my debate?
  • On Monday I met HRH Price Edward
  • On Tuesday I led a motion/full debate on metal theft in the Commons which was successful (and which has taken months of hard work).
  • Wednesday I led a APPG conference, attended by ministers and industry on metal theft and we had the Queens announced visit to Accrington.
  • On Thursday I spoke at a government led DCMS sponsored enquiry/debate into Football Governance.
This was the Ministers/government debate in view of the fact that the government are considering licensing football club owners and tightening up the 'Fit and Proper Persons' test. I would have thought it essential I spoke up, rather than an abuse of parliamentary privilege.

The fact I wasn't asked about Monday to Wednesday was I presume a reflection of the stations priorities, not mine. The fact they choose that subject confirms that perhaps it was the most important matter to speak about and I was right to do so.

Ah well... just wish they had raised the other matters, especially metal theft given it was such a huge week in Parliament for the issue and for me personally.

  1. Thank you Graham for your speech at the Parliamentary Committe Debate. As a Rovers supporter for 42 years myself my heart is broken and we need people like yourself to help us get our club back and stop it from falling into the abyss. I have posted the speech on my webpage http://rovers4life.tumblr.com/ COYB !
