Baxenden digital TV signal loss
The wind farm on Oswaldtwistle Moor has due to the weak signal from Winter Hill transmitter, knocked out the digital TV signal to huge parts of Baxenden.
Energiekontor, the owners of the wind farm signed a liability agreement with the former Conservative council limiting their payout to a total no more than £10,000 and that the remedial realignment of any affected aerials can be to the Haslingden transmitter which broadcasts far fewer channels.
Hyndburn's Labour Concil who inherited this problem have sought legal advice. Energiekontor have decided that they are prepared to pay out more than the £10,000 they had legally agreed. The improved offer however has met with criticism as it requires a contribution from residents.
The problem isn't just the contribution but the added complexity of expensive personal equipment; multiple Freview TVs, Freeview HD and HD recorders, cost of equipment that is effectively redundant.
