Only Labour’s energy price freeze will do

With working people £1600 worse off under the Tories, Ed Miliband is right to keep pushing for Labour’s energy price freeze.

David Cameron has refused to do anything to help hard pressed bill payers because he refuses to stand up to the big energy companies as always putting a privileged few before hardworking families.

But David Cameron's argument against Labour’s energy price freeze was totally demolished this week when one energy company, SSE, announced a price freeze for its customers – proving that Labour’s price freeze is possible, not to mention being the right thing to do.

Labour welcomes the price freeze for SSE customers, but the customers of other energy companies also need action now.

A full price freeze will only happen with a Labour Government –because unlike the Tories, we understand the pressures ordinary people face and will deal with the cost of living crisis head on. That’s why Ed Miliband has announced plans to freeze gas and electricity bills until 2017, while we reform the broken energy market.

With energy bills up almost £300 since the election, David Cameron should do the right thing now and start standing up for hardworking families instead of a privileged few.
