LCC Safe Trader Scheme. I have long campaigned against cowboy traders. Labour in County Hall set up the HelpDirect with their Safe Trader Scheme. Don't get ripped off, if you are looking for a trader, please do start here...

Save your NHS

Save your NHS
You may have seen the recent launch of the NHS Check website (www.labour.org.uk/yournhs), that allows staff and patients who are concerned about what’s happening in the NHS to get in touch with the party and tell us what they are seeing in hospitals, clinics and GP surgeries.

NHS Check is the next phase of Labour's campaign to hold the Government to account for the chaos it is inflicting on the NHS. The gap between Andrew Lansley's words and the reality on the ground is getting wider with every day that passes and we want to hear the real story about what's happening in the NHS from staff and patients.

We have already received thousands of examples of people’s experiences of the NHS, many of which highlight problems around decommissioning and restriction of NHS treatments. We are hearing of treatments being rationed or withdrawn altogether and patients being asked to pay for services that were previously freely available.

The Labour Party are looking to gather examples where treatments are being restricted or decommissioned as part of our campaign to stand up for the NHS.

We all know this Tory-led Government has launched an unprecedented attack on young people in our country. It threatens the hopes of our next generation - trebling tuition fees, chipping away at Sure Start and scrapping Educational Maintenance Allowances and the Future Jobs Fund.

Tory ministers are kicking away the ladders up which millions have climbed to a better life.

Too often in recent years, young people have turned their back on the political process. But our campaign to save school sports has shown what we can achieve together.

Hundreds of thousands of young people spoke out for school sport, Labour took that chorus to Parliament, and this week David Cameron was forced into a humiliating retreat.

Speaking out together, and building a movement against this out-of-touch Government, we can make a real difference.

My Expenses

As your MP I claim for a London flat, travel and staff costs. I do not claim for local travel, food or childcare.

Peak standard class rail fare to London is £280, off peak £80. I manage nearly always to travel off peak to save the taxpayer £200.

IPSA tables are crude tables. They do not explain that
• MP's still on the old mortgage system claim less
• MP's have pensioner discounts rail cards
• MP's without children need only one room
• Some MP's get free rail travel from their TOC
• Some MP's are poor at claiming in Q1 so appear to be claiming less.
• IPSA do not have clear separate tables for food, childcare, travel and other extras.

IPSA is a £7m bureaucratic organisation that wastes money on tortuous paperwork for small claims. It should be abolished.
