Ref: Ellan Fell, 6 Warwick Avenue, Clayton-le-Moors - bins/rented property Great Harwood

Mrs. Fell has spoken to me regarding a property she lets in Great Harwood. She has been in contact with Hyndburn Council with regard to issues with bins.

Mrs. Fell has said she would like a resolution to this matter. Please could you look into this matter and see if progress can be made towards a resolution for Mrs. Fell.

Backing the campaign to help shoppers get problems with faulty goods solved

I am backing National Consumer Week, a campaign to help people use their consumer rights to get problems with faulty goods like TVs, laptops and mobile phones resolved. Research from Citizens Advice has revealed that two thirds of people had a problem with faulty electrical goods in the last two years. However, 1 in 4 people were turned away by retailers when they tried to get a refund, a replacement item or get their item repaired, despite it being the retailer’s responsibility to help. The research also showed that persistence paid off, with 61% of people who were initially turned away going on to get some form of solution.

East Lancashire Power Loom Riots 1826 - 190th anniversary next Tuesday

This week is the 190th anniversary of the East Lancashire loom riots that led eventually to changes in factory conditions for working people which began by starving workers marching from Enfield to Grange Mill at the bottom of Manchester Road in Accrington where the first power looms were destroyed. The power-loom riots of 1826 took place in Lancashire, England, in protest against the economic hardship suffered by traditional handloom weavers caused by the widespread introduction of the much more efficient power loom [4] set against a cost of living crisis following the Napoleonic Wars. Rioting broke out on 24 April and continued for three days, widely supported by the local population, who were sympathetic to the weavers' plight.
